Hello, my name is Alex Brent and welcome to this video on Insight and Privacy. In this video we will look at the Privacy Gateway settings and what each setting means, so let's have a look.

You can access the gateway settings by clicking either the gateway name or by clicking on the menu to the right and clicking Edit you It. Here is where you can change all the settings for the gateway, including the tag lists, environments, translations, and other settings. On the left you can see the different settings sections and we will cover each of these in turn in later videos.

In this settings screen you can change the general behavior of the gateway. You can change the gateway name if you wish, but we suggest that you leave it set to the current name as this will be assigned and matched with the predefined publish path.

The enforcement mode comes in two settings observe mode and enforce mode. Observe Mode does not block or filter any tag requests. However, it does provide data to the Reporting Engine that allows insight about what will be blocked in Enforcement Mode. This allows you to get reports on what will be blocked when the Privacy Gateway is set to enforce. The tags and domains will be logged into the List Manager to define and categorize.

Later, Enforce Mode will turn on the tag Filter system and will begin to block or allow tags, depending on the settings defined in the List Manager or the Data Governance settings. Again, we will cover both of these in later videos.

The Privacy Reporting Mode is the function that will log domains to the domain list. If you are happy with all the domains that you have defined in the list, you can turn this function off and the system will stop logging domains into the tag lists. This is useful for when you have been running the gateway in Enforcement Mode for more than a week. As at this point all the technologies that are on the site should have already been detected. Please note that this option controls all the reporting and if this is turned off then you will no longer have access to the privacy report detailing what has and has not been blocked.

We recommend to leave this option on for full functionality.

The blocking mode will allow you to define a whitelist or blacklist approach. A whitelist blocks all requests except those which you have specified to allow. A blacklist allows all requests but blocks those that you have specified. We recommend a whitelist approach as this is far more secure and will ensure that you have absolute control over all the tags and technologies that fire on the site require. SSL will ensure that only secure tags fire on the secure sections of the site that is Https tags only fire on Https pages.

If the page is secure and a non secure tag tries to fire, then it will be blocked.

When you have finished updating these settings to your requirements, then be sure to save it by clicking the Save button you thank you for watching this video on Settings in the Privacy Gateways. In the next video we will look at the List manager and how to configure domains to either be allowed or blocked and the settings required to allow this to work for now. Thanks for watching.
