Welcome to the training video on using Insight and Mobile. My name is Richard Jones and I'm a mobile implementation consultant at InsightOn. The Insight and Mobile UI is found at Manage insighton.com Mobile and is where you configure your mobile apps to use InsightOn. As you can see, I currently have one Android mobile app in my account. However, in this video I'm going to show you how to create a new app in the Mobile UI and we'll also run through all of the various settings within the interface.

So, first things first creating an App we click on the Add App button and this brings up a new page which allows us to configure your mobile app within Insight and Mobile. At this point, I'm assuming that I have a new app which has the latest Insider Mobile library already installed in it. For this example, I'll be setting up an iOS app which has been written primarily in Swift. Within the add app page. There are quite a few different fields that need to be filled in, however, some are optional.

App Name this is used to identify the app in the Insight and Mobile interface. I'm going to call it Inciten demo app Version the version of the app to tag or you can use the value default to tag all app versions. We'll go more into version control later in the video. Application ID this must match the application ID within the app's code we are using ens demo Three the app ID we used in the installation videos. Operating System The operating system where your app runs.

It's important to remember that Incisor Mobile considers iOS apps built in Objective C and in Swift as different operating systems. I'll select iOS swift. Manage Space this is the Incitor managed space that contains the JavaScript tags for your app. This should be set up before you create your app. However, this can be changed later on if necessary.

Store URL, the URL of the App page in the App Store or Google Play to grab the App's icon. Another way to do this is to hover over the app icon and search for an image to use. Batch Size this is the number of events that will be collected before the network request is sent to the analytics provider. You can increase this number to improve the network performance and power usage of your app, but by default the batch size is set to one and every event sends out a network request. Refresh Interval this is the amount of time in minutes until a user that has your app open receives the latest set of published tags.

By default, the tags are refreshed every 24 hours. Connection to Mobile UI keep this checked to allow devices to connect to Insider Mobile using the four fingered press gesture which we'll talk about in the testing and debugging video. Once you have filled in the relevant fields, then you can click Save. This will then return to the App Detail screen and your app will appear on the left hand side. You can also edit an app by clicking on the relevant app icon and clicking on the pencil.

You then have the ability to change the following fields Manage Space, App Icon, Store, URL, Batch Size, Refresh Interval and allow connections to insert and mobile fields. You cannot make changes to the app name, app version, Application, ID, and Operating system. You will need to create a new app if you want to change these. Click Save to save your changes and return to the App's Details screen. Further information on the app settings can be found by clicking on the three dots in the top right within the App's Details screen.

To disable an app version, click here and enter the full app name to disable. This will stop all events from being triggered on your app. To delete an app version is the same, enter the name and select Delete. Clicking on Tag Container will open another tab and by viewing source you can see the tag container calls. The same applies for the mobile config file.

Clicking on Manage Events and Manage Tags will take you to Insight and Manage to view events and tags for this app. As mentioned previously, you have the ability to add app versions. App versions allow you to define custom events and tags for specific versions of your app. I'm going to change over to my existing Android app which has some mobile events configured in the app version dropdown, select the version that you want to use as your baseline for the new version. All events from the baseline will be copied to the new version.

As we only have a default version at the moment, we'll be using this one. Click on the plus button and give your version a new version ID. Click Add and a new version is created.

As you can see, all the events have been copied into version 10 and their status is new. All events under default will cover all versions of your app. If you have specified a particular version, however, this will take precedence and only trigger on these events. Thank you for joining me for this video. If you have any questions then please contact our support team at support@insighton.com.
