Welcome to this training video on setting up integrations and tags within the mobile UI. My name is Richard Jones, and I'm a mobile implementation consultant at Insyton. In the last video, we learned how to track data within an event. The next step is to add a tag. It should first be mentioned that when creating a tag through an event, what it's doing in the background is creating the tag within your Manage account within the space you created for the app.
It will also be created as a custom tag. So if you want to add any functionality that is not in the following steps, you can edit the tag within Manage as usual. So onto creating a tag. The first step is to click Add Tag within section three of the UI. This will take you to the integration page.
An integration will create a tag that runs when the app is first opened, not when the event is fired. What this is used for is to essentially create the base code for tags. If we click Add Integration, you can see we have four apps available. Adobe analytics, custom JavaScript Site and Pulse. And Google Analytics.
For the sake of this training video, we will select Google Analytics. As I just mentioned, integrations are the base code that will fire on the app. Therefore, for Google Analytics, we will need to put the property ID in here. You can set up a free Google Analytics account on their website if you want to try this for yourself. I have a property ID set up for me which I'll enter in the field here and click Add Integration.
This then takes us to a screen that will allow us to create the actual tag that will fire when the event is called. In Google Analytics case, the first option we are presented with is Page View and Event. As this event we are creating is a Page View. We will select that. The next section is the Page name.
Within each field you can populate. On this form you can select a value type of data which will allow you to select a token that we added from section two of the UI. The other option is Text, which will allow you to add any text that you like. For Page Name, you will see that the value has been automatically populated with the page name token that was created for us. We will leave this as it is for now.
The next option is location. Feel free to leave this blank if not needed, or you can populate it using a token or text. We will leave it blank for now. Next is title. This will also be populated automatically with the Page name token.
For this video, we'll use the default setting. The final section allows you to add custom dimensions and metrics. The UI will automatically add custom dimensions for each data token that you created. You can easily change the custom dimension number here, change the value or delete the generated dimension. You can also add more by clicking on Add Dimension or Add a Metric by clicking Add Metric here.
With the tag now set up, we can now click Add Tag. With that final section complete, we can now click Save and Commit and our event and tag are created. You. Thank you for watching this video. Please join me in the next video where we will go through testing the tag and event we have just created.
